Richmond-based production brewery East Brother Beer Company is currently looking to ‘fill up’ multiple part-time positions, including the roles of taproom servers and delivery driver.
“We’re interested in talking to self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to wear many hats,” East Brother’s Rob Lightner relayed in info provided via email. “And of course, people who love beer!”
To qualify for the taproom server positions, applicants should be at least 21 years old, have good math and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, possess a working knowledge of the craft beer industry and have two-to-three years of previous experience in the hospitality industry.
Per East Brother, taproom servers’ job responsibilities include greeting, interacting with, providing guidance to and answering the questions of customers; pouring glasses/growlers properly; maintaining the cleanliness of the taproom; operating the tap, changing kegs and cleaning glassware; handling cash and processing transactions; marketing the taproom and East Brother Beer Company; and providing excellent customer service, ensuring that all customers have the best possible experience.
As for the role of delivery driver, East Brother tells For Richmond that it will initially be a part-time position that they see growing into a full-time position in the future.
According to East Brother—aside from being age 21 or over—qualifications needed for the position include a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, two-to-three years of previous experience in deliveries and customer service, a good knowledge base of the craft beer industry, excellent verbal communication skills, cleanliness and attention to detail and the willingness to work some weekends.
East Brother reports the job responsibilities for this role as: Preparing paperwork for orders; loading orders in proper order for delivery while observing proper safety procedures for product storage, lifting, etc.; maintaining cleanliness of delivery vehicle and cold room; delivering orders and invoices to customers within the assigned delivery windows; collecting payment from customers where applicable and knowing payment terms; keeping an eye and ear open for sales opportunities and talking to potential customers about East Brother Beer; communicating customer concerns/compliments and new sales opportunities back to management; and providing excellent customer service.
Some of the physical requirements of the job, per East Brother, are being able to reach, bend, stoop, lift 55 lbs. to shoulder height, and manage transport of 165 lb. kegs; the ability to safely operate a hand-truck and maneuver heavy items (up to 165 lbs.) safely; and knowing when to ask for help with heavy items.
