Local students looking for excellent job experience and who love everything STEM can seize upon an extraordinary opportunity to work for San Francisco’s renowned Exploratorium!
The Exploratorium—which describes itself as a public learning laboratory exploring the world through science, art, and human perception—is looking for Bay Area students ages 15 to 18 to work there as “explainers.”
Per the Exploratorium, explainers engage the public with exhibits, spearhead demonstrations and help run a diverse range of operations. The position pays $14 per hour over a work week that ranges from 14 to 19 hours per week. The position’s duration is four months long and applicants need not have a science background to qualify.
Minimum requirements for the positions include: Being at least 15 years old and having completed the first year of high school (but not being more than 18 years old); being open to learning new ideas; and being interested in working with people within a museum structure.
According to a recent report in the Richmond Standard, there are 130 paid positions for explainers per year and they are hired every four months.
The Exploratorium is easily accessible from the East Bay via the Embarcadero BART station or Ferry Building.
