Metro Dog, a busy doggy daycare and training center in Richmond, currently is hiring for full and part-time dog handler positions. Handlers must be available to work at least one weekend day per weekend, during all major holidays and the month of August.
According to Metro Dog, handlers spend time developing relationships with the dogs, maintaining a clean & safe environment and working with fellow workers—from sharing info to listening to learning to jumping in wherever needed. A typical day for dogs includes time in playgroups, individual leash walks, individual playtime, group off-leash park trips and getting basic grooming, baths, nail trims, brush outs etc.
Handlers receive opportunities to help the trainers with classes, socials and private training, as well as providing walking and sitting services in client’s homes.
Applicants should be willing to do physical work in all types of weather, perform clean-up, have a genuine love of dogs and be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Job perks include free doggie daycare while working, discounted boarding/daycare when not working, discounts on pet supplies and free classes and workshops.
