The Milo Foundation, a Point Richmond-based no-kill animal rescue organization averaging 1,800 adoptions a year, is currently looking to hire a part-time to full-time kennel attendant.
The schedule for the entry-level role includes shifts starting at 7 a.m., possibly occasional evenings and weekends. The position may also range from approximately 20-25 hours per week to 35-40 hours per week, depending on the job candidate.
According to the Milo Foundation, the available position involves significant physical exertion, the strength to lift at least 50 pounds, the ability to handle large dogs and a lot of walking, standing, bending and kneeling.
Job responsibilities include cleaning kennels and crates, cleaning and maintenance of the facility, doing laundry and dishes, maintaining dog yards and walking dogs of all sizes, per the organization. Applicants with a vast knowledge of health care, behavior, control and handling of dogs are preferred, as are those possessing intelligence, a love of dogs, excellent communication skills and good work habits.
Past professional experience working with and handling dogs is also preferred in a job applicant.
