Music. Art-making. Warm, tasty drinks. Sounds like the makings of some fine February fun, does it not?
The Richmond Art Center (RAC), located at 2540 Barrett Avenue in Richmond, is hosting its’ first-ever “Sip & Make,” Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
As part of the festivities, complimentary beer and wine will be served and guests will be invited to make some art at an artmaking station.
Described by RAC Communications Manager Julie Sparenberg as a “soiree,” that is more “adult-orientated” than their typical family friendly events, Sip & Make offers locals the chance to mingle under the stars in the center’s courtyard and also explore the galleries.
“Come by after work, have a glass of wine or beer and make something,” said Sparenberg in welcoming guests to the free event.
“Bring your friends and relax,” she added.
Music will be provided courtesy of the RAC’s playlist while guests kick back and explore the art of printmaking by making creations with block prints on paper and fabric.
According to Sparenberg, the RAC’s galleries will be open that evening and currently feature exhibitions including “The 21st Annual Art of Living Black,” “Marvin Lipofsky Retrospective,” and “Teacher Is Artist Faculty Show.”
The RAC hopes to make Sip & Make soirees a regular occurrence, possibly on a monthly basis, Sparenberg told For Richmond.
