Have you checked out downtown Richmond lately? An upcoming event invites our community to do so while enjoying all of its AWESOME offerings.
Richmond Main Street Initiative’s (RSMI) 9th annual “Spirit & Soul Festival,” touted as downtown Richmond’s premier event, will spring into action Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, from 1-5 p.m. on Macdonald Avenue between Harbour Way and 13th Street.
General admission to the multifaceted fest is free, however, VIP tickets are available for $20 per person pre-sale and $25 at the door and include perks such as entry into a reserved seating area, drink and drawing prize tickets, etc.
According to event organizers on RMSI’s website, the Spirit & Soul Festival is “a true celebration of downtown Richmond [that] transforms historic ‘main street’ into an outdoor bazaar filled with food and artisan vendors, live music from two stages, dancing in the street, a Beverage Pavilion with VIP seating, and Youth Zone.
As part of the festival’s foodie lineup, vendors including CJ’s BBQ & Fish, Taqueria Esperanza, We Be Poppin’ Kettle Corn and Yo Mama’s Old Fashioned Teacakes will be on hand, with a “Beverage Pavilion” featuring libations from East Brother Beer Co., Benoit Casper Brewing Co. and Main Street Margaritas.
The festival’s “Youth Zone” will offer an assortment of fun delights such as lawn chess, make & take activities, mobile art gallery, East Bay MUD Quench Buggy, info booths and more.
Artisans and merchants on hand will be selling wares spanning the gamut from candles to clothing to jewelry to art and more.
Tickets for an array of drawing prizes will also be sold, with the grand prize being a Marin Mountain Bike.
Topping off the excitement will be two stages of live entertainment with the main stage touting acts including the 1st Avenue Revue (a Prince tribute band), Rhonda Benin, Yates Brothers & Sisters and PUSH with Dan Ashley.
A second stage hosted by RYSE Youth Center and called the “12th Street Stage” will feature entertainers such as Shari with Ronnie Mills and the RYSE Center performers.
